Description :Goal of the interdisciplinary conference “European Values and Identity” is scientific discussion of the European values as a
concept and their definition; emphasizing significance of fundamental principles of freedom, tolerance and justice
established by Enlighteners of 18th century in their philosophy for formation of the European values; based on the results of
scientific researches, desc_ription of the role played by European values in development of the relevant humanities,
social, political sciences and philosophy of law; considering European choice regarding tendency of the society to
European values and maintaining national identity.
The issues discussed in the presentations and further debates would contribute to awareness of Georgia society, its
modernization and allow Georgian society to make reasonable choice in favor of Europe. Multidisciplinary choice
expressed by the professionals with different views would emphasize specific nature of each speaker’s thinking and
particularly, it would reveal common vision of European scheme: this is the vision propagating such values as human
dignity, freedom, democracy, equality and protection of human rights, rights of the minorities allowing development of
democratic society without sacrificing national identity.
Format of the conference provided by multidisciplinary approach would allow the specialists of different sectors to present
the role of European values in development of democratic society and formulate their opinion on significance of tendency
of our society to European values and significance of European choice, through maintaining national identity. ● European

humanistic philosophy. ● Humanism and modern times: literature and culture. Cultural values: freedom, democracy,
